4-Year-Old Kindergarten (4K)

Sites and Times

In the G-E-T School District, we have 4 year old kindergarten programming at each of our three elementary schools.  While we try our best to place students in the elementary school they will attend for grades K-5 for 4K, there are times that is not possible due to transportation, size limitation or other conflicts.

• At Ettrick Elementary School, we have one morning section of 4K.
• At Galesville Elementary School, we have one morning and one afternoon section of 4K.
• At Trempealeau Elementary School, we have a minimum of one morning and one afternoon section of 4K.  Our Trempealeau Elementary site is the location in which we have the ability to add additional sections if needed.

All of our 4K sessions run five days a week:

• Morning 4K runs from 8:00-10:45AM Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 8:00-10:35 on Wednesdays.
• Afternoon 4K runs from 12:15-3:00PM Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 11:50-2:25 on Wednesdays.

Transportation

Students in the morning sessions of 4K ride regular bus routes to school each day, and a 4K bus route home.  Students in the afternoon sessions of 4K ride a 4K bus route to school each day and regular bus routes home.  Bus route information is provided to families at our August registration days, which for the 2023-24 school year will be held on August 7th and 14th.

Enrollment

We are so excited that your family is considering enrolling in our 4-year old kindergarten program at the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District!

Starting Monday, February 6th, you can go to the Enroll/Register (at the top) then choose New 4K Enrollment  - all enrollments for 4K are online only. You will fill in a Pre-Enrollment form first, then you will get a email with the username/password for your new  PowerSchool Parent Portal Account. Before the student can start it is required to have the following shown to Karen Smith in Pupil Services.

The “District 4k Enrollment” for the 2023-24 school year is
February 6 - March 24th, 2023

If you don’t have access to a personal device we can also do the online enrollment at the Middle School on a school computer. Please contact Karen and set up a time to meet (608) 582-4657 x1904 or email: karensmith@getschoots.k12.wi.us.

We will need to see a copy of:
~ Your child's birth certificate for verification
~ Proof of residence , such as a tax bill, phone bill, utility bill (that month or the month before date on it)
~ Copy of Immunization Records
 We will not keep either of those items, but just need to view them upon submission. We will keep a copy of your child's immunization record, so please plan to have a copy available (if you use Gundersen MyChart or Mayo Online Patient Services you should be able to print an immunization record without having to contact your provider). 

4k Open Enrollment

The “Open Enrollment” application period for the 2023-24 school year is
February 6 -  closes at 4pm, April 28, 2023

Open Enrollment/Non-resident students are accepted into the G-E-T School District through a process called "Open Enrollment.' Families must enroll during this window on the Wisconsin Department of Public instruction (DPI) website.

Important Dates

February 6th - Pre-Enrollment form available online

March 24th All District 4k Enrollments and Materials needed are due to Karen Smith

April 28th – All Open Enrollment and Materials due to Karen Smith - Pupil Services (located at the Middle School)

June 16th - Notification of AM/PM & Building Placements

August 7th & 14th - Open House/Registration Days at Building of Attendance, there you will take School Photos, possibly receive Bus Route info, pay milk money, etc.
