Ettrick Elementary hosted their School-Wide Spelling Bee yesterday, and the level of "Intellectual Challenge" was truly impressive. It takes a great deal of courage and persistence to stand in front of peers and judges.
Congratulations to every single student who participated. Your hard work and preparation were evident!
Special shout-out to the four students who will be moving on to the next level of competition. We are so proud of your mastery and growth in literacy!

The competition was fierce (and full of correctly placed vowels!) in our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade classrooms last week as we hosted our classroom Spelling Bees. We are so impressed by the courage and focus our Red Hawks showed!
📸 Featured below: Our classroom winners and runners-up! Give them a "thumbs up" for their hard work and stellar spelling skills.
But the "buzz" doesn't stop here! The winners have officially qualified for the Ettrick Elementary 3-5th School-Wide Spelling Bee this coming Thursday!

Last Friday, Ettrick Elementary was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated Environmental Day! Our students spent the day connecting with nature, learning from experts, and appreciating the beautiful world around us.
The morning was filled with hands-on learning at our outdoor stations. A huge thank you to the local community members, our talented G-E-T FFA students, and the team from Happy Dancing Turtle for sharing their passion and knowledge with our Red Hawks! 🐢✨
After lunch, we had a very special "in-house" presentation. One of our own 3rd graders, Wyatt, teamed up with his dad, Timothy, to teach us all about Raising Trout. It was wonderful to see our students and families sharing their expertise with one another! 🐟
We wrapped up our day in the best way possible—at the School Forest! From creating beautiful sun prints and reading under the canopy of trees to exploring the trails on a group hike, it was a day to remember.
Thank you to everyone who made this day a success. Our Red Hawks are truly learning what it means to care for our community and our Earth! 🌎💚

Raylin read a variety of picture books to the students as part of her inspiring community service project, "Charity for Literacy." It was wonderful to see our students so engaged and to have a high school role model highlighting the importance of literacy and the pure joy of a good book. 📖✨
Thank you, Raylin, for investing your time in our students and for helping us foster a lifelong love for reading at Ettrick!

After weeks of deep research into our local winged neighbors, students turned into teachers. Visitors were treated to hand drawn posters, colored pictures, taxidermy specimens, and speeches filled with facts.
We are so proud of the hard work and public speaking skills our young Red Hawks displayed today. A huge thank you to the families and community members who stopped by to learn from our students!

What a perfect day at Bruce Mound! Our Ettrick Elementary students finally had their chance to hit the tubing hills, and Mother Nature definitely cooperated with beautiful sunshine and the perfect temperature for outdoor play.
This trip was more than just a day of fun—it was a celebration of our students' hard work! This outing was a special reward for our Red Hawks for consistently being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible throughout the first half of the school year. We are so proud of the positive culture our students are building every day.
🙌 A HUGE Thank You to the Ettrick Elementary PTO!
We are incredibly grateful to our amazing PTO for completely funding this entire trip. Your support made this memorable day possible for every single student. Thank you for investing in our kids and our school community!

While the mountain will have to wait, our classrooms turned a chilly Friday into a day of cozy learning and friendly competition!
✨ First Grade & 4K teamed up for some "magical" flashlight reading inside cozy forts. 🔦📚
🔢 Fourth & Fifth Grade faced off in an intense, high-energy 99 Math battle to test their skills! 🧠💻
🌱 Third Grade brought a little bit of spring indoors by getting their hands dirty and starting some new plantings! 🪴

Our Redhawks are officially in the Valentine’s spirit! We are celebrating all week long with some fun themed dress-up days to spread kindness and school spirit.
Today’s theme was "Dress to Impress," and wow—did our students deliver! From fancy dresses and dapper ties to sharp sweaters, the hallways are looking extra classy today. It’s wonderful to see our Redhawks taking such pride in their appearance and showing off their personal style. 👔👗✨

Our 5th Grade Reading class leveled up their literacy game this week with the ultimate "Podcast & Chill" session. Students traded their traditional desks for blankets, snacks, and refreshing drinks while diving into some incredible storytelling.
Listening to podcasts is a fantastic way for our Red Hawks to build critical listening skills, practice visualization, and explore new perspectives—and doing it with a little extra comfort makes it all the more memorable!
Way to go, 5th grade! What a great way to spend class time.

We had such a wonderful time welcoming our newest learners and their families to Ettrick Elementary last week for our 4K Registration Night & Open House! 🦅❤️
It was so exciting to see the hallways filled with the smiling faces of our future students. Families were able to get a head start on registration forms, tour the 4K classrooms, and meet some of our amazing staff.
One of the highlights of the night was definitely our "Future Red Hawk" photo op! Our incoming students looked absolutely adorable and ready to take on the world. 📸✨
A huge thank you to all the families who joined us. We are already counting down the days until these little Red Hawks officially join our school family this fall!

We are so incredibly grateful to share a special new addition to Ettrick Elementary! We recently received a donated locker fully stocked with hygiene items for our students to access whenever they need them.
This project was made possible through the incredible generosity of the Lucas Mack Memorial Bed-races held during Ettrick Days. Thanks to the organizer, Konor Bork, the participants, and the many community donors who contributed, our students have one more way to feel supported and ready to learn every day.
It truly takes a village, and we are so proud to be part of the Ettrick community. Please join us in sharing a huge "Thank You" to everyone who made this possible! 🦅✨

A massive Red Hawk shoutout to our incredible Ettrick PTO and our amazing community members!
Recently, our teachers had their "classroom wishes" granted, and the excitement in the building is contagious! Our teachers are feeling so incredibly supported and appreciative, and let’s just say the kids are very big fans of the new additions to their classrooms and playground! 💻🎨📚
It’s partnerships like this that help our students Grow, Excel, and Thrive. We are so lucky to be part of such a generous and dedicated community.
Thank you for investing in our Red Hawks! ❤️

These amazing young writers spent time imagining their lives ahead! Their creativity, hard work, and teamwork shine on every single page.
We are so incredibly proud of their dedication to this project! Keep an eye on these future world-changers—they are already achieving big things!

They brought some extra sweetness to our halls today by generously donating candy canes for ALL of our Ettrick Elementary Red Hawks—students and staff alike!
Their commitment to our community and to spreading holiday cheer is truly appreciated. It’s small acts like this that make Ettrick such a special place to live and learn.
