Our second graders put their bird knowledge to the test during a special birding adventure at Perrot State Park! After researching and learning all about our feathered friends, they had the chance to observe birds in their natural habitat. 🏞️🔎
Some very lucky (and patient!) students even had a bird eat right from their hands—an unforgettable experience! 🤩🐦💛

🌟 Our 2nd Graders Soared at the Ettrick PTO Meeting! 🌟
This week, our talented 2nd-grade students put their persuasive writing skills to the test, presenting to the Ettrick PTO in hopes of securing funding for a bird sponsorship through River Valley Raptors. 🦅✍️
Their hard work and convincing arguments paid off—the PTO was so impressed that they agreed to sponsor a bird! 🎉👏

🌱🌿 Third Grade Plant Sale at Ettrick Elementary! 🌿🌱
Our amazing third-grade students have been hard at work preparing for their Plant Sale, happening during Parent/Teacher Conferences! 🌻🪴
All funds raised will go directly toward supporting our school garden, where students get to plant, harvest, and enjoy the vegetables they grow themselves. 🍅🥕🥒 What a fantastic way to teach them the joys of growing their own food and the rewards of hard work!

📚🎩 This week, our 4K students at Ettrick Elementary had a blast celebrating Read Across America! 🎉 They enjoyed fun activities inspired by Cat in the Hat, The Lorax, Green Eggs and Ham, and more! From creating colorful Truffula trees to sharing a special snack, the days were filled with laughter, learning, and amazing guest readers! 📖💙

Today, our students are taking part in a special opportunity—Make a Blanket Day! 🎉 Throughout their art classes, students are learning how to create cozy fleece blankets, all made with care and kindness. 💙
The best part? Every blanket will be donated to the Gundersen Lutheran Dialysis Unit, bringing warmth and comfort to those in need. 🏥💖

Last night, we had the joy of welcoming our youngest families to our Bright Beginnings Family Fair, and we couldn’t be more excited for these little ones to join the Ettrick Elementary family! 💙✨
From hands-on sensory play to fine motor skill activities and beyond, our event was all about learning, growing, and building community. It was a wonderful evening filled with laughter, exploration, and connection.

On Monday, our students marked a HUGE milestone—the 100th day of school! 🎈🥳 From dressing up as 100-year-olds to creative outfits featuring 100 items, our hallways were filled with fun and laughter!
Our second graders took things to the next level with a special 100th Day Challenge Project, putting their creativity and problem-solving skills on full display. 🏗️✨ We are so proud of their innovative ideas and hard work!

🌟🐦 Huge shoutout to Val for helping our 4K students make pinecone bird feeders yesterday! It was the perfect way to wrap up our Winter Animals unit.
Val showed the kids pictures of different birds and feeders, and explained how tough it can be for birds to find food in winter. Each student took one home, and we even made extras for school!
